A Life Rooted in Texas Values
Meet Jeff
Jeff Mayes was born and raised in central Texas, shaped by the land, the people, and the values that define this region. As a boy, he admired the farming life of his grandfather — a connection that inspired him to study Agriculture Education and begin his career teaching high school Ag students. Those early years cemented Jeff’s understanding of hard work, stewardship, and the importance of investing in the next generation.
“My priorities are simple: protect our land, safeguard our resources, defend our rights, and keep Williamson County a place where families can live, work, and worship with confidence.”
- Jeff Mayes
Where Jeff Stands on Key Issues
Jeff’s life of service has shaped not only who he is, but also the principles he brings to public leadership. As Williamson County continues to grow, Jeff believes it’s essential to protect the values that make this community strong, safeguard the natural resources we depend on, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are managed wisely. His approach is grounded in real experience — as a teacher, business owner, volunteer, and community leader — and driven by a commitment to keeping Williamson County a safe, prosperous, and connected place for every family.
This is where we work, play, sleep, and pray — and Jeff believes that protecting the character and safety of Williamson County starts with supporting the people who make it strong. Jeff is committed to ensuring our communities have the resources they need to thrive:
- A strong law enforcement presence to keep neighborhoods safe
- Quick and reliable emergency response for families in crisis
- Parks, fields, and community spaces where our children can learn, play, and grow
- A forward-thinking approach to economic development that brings opportunity while preserving the Texas way of life
Jeff believes that a community is only as strong as the values it stands on — and he’s committed to protecting those values every day.
Jeff’s lifelong connection to the land gives him a unique understanding of the challenges facing a fast-growing county. With water becoming increasingly scarce, Jeff believes county leadership must act with foresight, responsibility, and a deep respect for natural resources. He supports long-term water planning, infrastructure improvements, and policies that allow growth without overwhelming the land we depend on. His goal is simple: protect our resources today so that future generations can enjoy the same Texas lifestyle we hold dear.
Jeff has managed budgets as a teacher, a small-business owner, and a community leader. He knows what it means to stretch a dollar and make smart financial decisions. As County Commissioner, Jeff will approach the county budget with that same mindset — watching every penny, eliminating waste, and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently and transparently. Families in Williamson County work hard for what they have, and Jeff believes government should always honor that by being disciplined, efficient, and accountable.

Shaped by Faith, Family, and Service
Jeff’s life has always centered around service. His first job at Hill Country Feed & Supply in Leander taught him the responsibility of showing up for his community. His church, his family, and years spent in Scouting instilled in him a servant’s heart. Jeff earned the rank of Eagle Scout and continues to support Scouting today, helping guide young people to honor God, love their country, and serve their neighbors. These values are still the driving force behind his leadership.
